Blog Post Number Three
After reading the selected materials on blogging, I feel there are plenty of challenges facing a new blogger. The art of blogging is becoming an increasingly popular communication medium, and in order to get the most out of it you need to be able to master a lot of different aspects of both writing, and design.
The main challenge facing any blogger in my opinion is finding your style. To me, this is an important part of any form of writing. The goal of any blogger is to get people to relate to your writing, comment on it, and subscribe to your blog. Finding a style that best represents what you’re trying to accomplish in your blog is a daunting task, but the readings help give you suggestions.
The most important thing I think any blogger should be in their writing is personable. One of the readings says you should let your personality shine through in your writing. I think this is really important, because it gives the reader a glimpse of who you are. The easiest way I can think of to do this is to write about things you know. When you write about things you know, at least I have found that you can write about them in a more personable manner, because you are comfortable talking and writing about these subjects. People enjoy reading personable, conversational writing, and writing about what you know is the easiest way to obtain it.
As far as getting people to comment on your blog, it can be solved as easy as writing at the end of a post, “Tell me what you think”. In my opinion, people get into the blogging world, at least for the most part, to voice their opinions. They want to read and comment on other people’s blogs, and they want other people to read and comment on theirs. The easiest way to get people to comment on your blog is to write personable, crisp content, and in my opinion the easiest way to do that is to write about what you know.
These are just some of the challenges facing a new blogger. The main thing is to find your voice, and your style. If you give your blog a clear voice and direction, you’ll get the feedback you want.
